The Simpsons - Doll Shoes 1 by illionore The Simpsons - Doll Shoes 1 by illionore
It's been a little while again since I drew the Yellow People (also known as The Simpsons). They always have that 'couch gag' and I decided to make my own. Isn't this just what the family is like? Homer and Marge are too distracted to notice the children fighting. And poor Maggie even drops on the floor. What else is new, yes? ;)

Eh, okay, so I intended this as a stand-alone picture and created it as such -- until I got carried away and took this whole "fight for shoes" a step further. So there's more! But it's not here yet at the time of this publication. I still have to colour it and, because this was originally intended as a one-image-scene AND it's working great as such without the (maybe a bit poorer quality 'next part'), I decided to go and publish it separately anyway. You'll probably see the next bit coming in short time.

Enjoy!

Published "what I drew after this" as well now, you can see it here:

Edit: Hm, someone apparently took the quote "I see Yellow People" as racism, which it wasn't meant to be (it was in fact a spin on the line "I see dead people" from the movie Sixth Sense) -- I don't know if it was a serious comment or jest, but in case someone would be taking this the wrong way, I decided to rename the deviation to "The Simpsons - Doll Shoes 1", just to be on the safe side ;)

This is FAN ART.
The Simpsons are (c) Matt Groening.

So why do you want to trade places with Bart? ;)
He doesn't say so because he is 'cool', but I bet he loves his sister too :)

:XD: Hilarious! I haven't watched the Simpsons since they went to digital and widescreen.
I use to watch it all the time since it's conception in I think......... 87 or 89.

Heheh. You got em all barefoot!
Now I can understand Lisa being barefoot since Bart took her shoes, but why is everyone else barefoot? ;)

Oh! And you draw them quite well! I've been told Lisa with her starfish styled hair is the hardest to draw. O.o

Thanks! I've watched quite a lot of episodes - but probably missed a couple here and there. They keep repeating seasons on TV here quite actively, so it's easy to get a Simpsons shot regularly.

They are barefoot because I like barefoot. I was thinking of giving Homer shoes first and then I was like 'nah, I'll just have everyone on the same footing' ;) Actually, a funny fact is that I'm better at drawing feet than drawing shoes. I hate drawing shoes. Feet come natural so it's a two-in-one. You see all my other characters without shoes at least as often as with shoes, too. And there's characters who never wear shoes, like Kelsey. She wore socks on the Christmas Calendar and that was a huge exception for her! :)

Lisa's hair isn't that terribly difficult to draw for me, but on the right side it doesn't look quite as it should unfortunately :/ Bart was really difficult to draw, in my experience.

Ah of course, you're a foot man, durr! ^.^; ;)

I'm not an artist, but I have dabbled with it a little.
Feet are very hard for me unfortunately. I have attempted to draw Gadget's
paws a few times, and because they are simple, I can do a half/decent job.

If I did draw more, I'd probably be more comfortable with shoes.
Who knows, artistry runs on my mom's side, so I could get better if I really dived into it.

That is true. ^^

Don't get me wrong, feet ARE one of the hardest things to draw on the human body! They are really complex in shape actually, and bringing them out correctly requires you to think a little three dimensionally as well as practice a LOT. The reason they come fairly easy for me is because I have drawn them a lot, and it was a (long-ish) road to continuous improvement. Trial and error, etc. Hands are the other difficult part of the body and as far as I can self-assess, I'm not as good at them yet as feet, despite of the fact I have drawn them easily as many times. Perhaps there's another 'hidden' ingredient in here that matters, which is the desire to draw them stunningly, sexy, well looking, etc. It may well be the key ingredient, too. I notice in many cartoons that they pretty much 'forget' about what feet look like and draw something that - in some cases doesn't even have toes. But I do know that the Disney movie 'Tangled' made some of the first really great feet I have seen in the world of cartoons. Of course, it's a CGI movie, so they had an 'easy' job.

If I didn't like feet, I would have probably learned to draw shoes better as well, who knows. Either way, talent doesn't always work down the road of genes. For example, my father has done a lot with music. Can play the organ really well, was already playing accordion in high school, then played trombone and - my brother played trumpet for quite a while. I on the other hand am so a-musical that I can't even keep a rhythm. If I try to play something e.g. on piano or drums, I keep going faster and slower constantly without even noticing it. ;)
